Self Defence has just started for our TY group ' we learned how to protect ourselves from various attacks…informative and fun!' Our final Yoga session took place with Kate Bullman and her dog Brambles! "It's great for relieving stress and helps you to relax" Dance module today culminated in a tango session!
We also went to DCU last Wednesday where we were given a tour of the campus by one of the student ambassadors where we saw various buildings on campus. We also attended the 'Making an Impact' competition in the Helix where we listened to 5 post graduate students make presentations on areas as diverse as Huntington's disease, 'Barnacles and Bacteria' and the tackle height in rugby. Students were asked to vote on the winning topic and the panel picked theirs (we picked the talk on Huntington's disease!).
We were also introduced to the CARA project this week. Paddy O' Connor and Bernie Barrett came in to St Kevin's to give a talk on the work of the charity which involves building and running orphanages in Kenya and also helping young girls in Kenya in relation to education. Two of our students, Tadhg Barrett and Brian Crowe will travel in March with the CARA project to work on the provision of these services.
